hi perhaps ive been unlucky in the d p route i find the whole system frustrating and mind boggling! its hard enough coping with a child with a disability juggling appointments, meetings etc then when you have completely warn yourself out and cant cope anymore a clever person then decides you are entitled to d p because you are close to a break down! perhaps its time our government thought that perhaps prevention is better than cure not that im ungrateful i just feel maybe this valuable part of the system should be available to all !!!

Has anyone had any experience of using Church House in Kingswood?

Hi Ive been using dp for about 5 years now, at first the paperwork did seem lots of extra work but when you get used to it it becomes easier and internet banking has sped things up a lot. I like the control of managing your own support but employing carers is extremely difficult. I now use it for mostly agency hours which is easier. I also found that its a good route to getting more care and support for your child as their needs change. It would be much harder to get the extra support especially at times of crisis without dp. Hope this helps

Hi. Been receiving DP for three ish years now. Caring for 11 year old son. I’m a lone parent. I am grateful but dont feel like it’s enough. I’m not sure of the requirements to get DP so couldn’t comment as to if it’s a fair system or not. Be good to chat if anyone out there would like to
