    The West of England Centre for Inclusive Living (WECIL) is an organisation run by and for Disabled people. Established in 1995 we are now one of the largest Centres for Independent Living (CILS) in the country. We are managed and guided by a Board of Trustees, the majority of whom are Disabled people. A quarter of our workforce are Disabled people.

    We provide innovative services which aim to empower Disabled people, giving them the opportunity to gain choice and control over their lives. This enables them to live independently and participate to whatever level they choose in the community as valued and equal citizens. As well as delivering crucial support, information and advice services to Disabled People, we also undertake pioneering research and pilot projects in order to effect social change.

    The Social Model of Disability underpins everything we do, and to this end, all our work is about designing and delivering services that remove barriers faced by Disabled people.

    We are based in Fishponds, Bristol and provide a range of services to people in three local authority areas: Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Swindon. To view our promotional DVD about us and what we do please click here

    Peer support and inclusion are key factors in the way we operate and we encourage people to get involved with our organisation, offering a range of methods of involvement in order to engage as many Disabled people as possible to ensure we deliver services that are meeting their needs.

    WECIL is an example of the good practice that can develop when Disabled people set up and control their own services based on equalities principles, and working in partnership with other agencies. Our services are innovative, empowering and responsive to the requirements of the people who use them.
