Advocacy Services

Why use an advocate?

An advocate is someone who can offer support and information during negotiations with Health and Social Services. Some Disabled people find this support helps them.

It can be difficult for Disabled people to be involved in, or take control of their lives.

The reasons for this might be:
-The power of 'experts'
-Feeling nervous about procedures
-Not being given enough information or choice
-Not having the chance to say what they need

An advocate will work to your instructions and keep you informed
An advocate will give you information about what to do if you are not satisfied with the assessment
