  • Listening Partnership

Listening Partnership is a group for young Disabled people aged between 13 and 25 years living in Bristol. There are currently 11 members.

The aim of Listening Partnership is to:

    • Explore and stand up for our rights as young Disabled people
    • Have a say in decisions that affect our lives
    • Increase awareness of disability issues and discrimination in the services we use
    • Have fun and a good social life and learn new skills!

The Listening Partnership meets weekly on a Monday between 6.50pm and 9.30pm at an accessible location.  We also provide accessible transport for members attending meetings if required.   We invite speakers to talk to us about issues of interest and concern.  We work on projects, including making a DVD and pieces of art work.

We are consulted by public bodies such as Bristol City Council on issues that affect young disabled people.  This is our chance to have our say.

We also organise regular activities including visits to places of interest such as the Commonwealth museum in Bristol to see the Abolition Exhibition.

If you are a young Disabled person and you want to make a difference, come along and join us.  We can offer you support and training and help you to develop new skills and confidence.

A member of the group says:

“It’s a great opportunity to meet people, learn new skills and do activities as a group.  Lots of visitors come to talk to us about things that affect our lives.  We also produce a newsletter and go out together on group trips.  Recently we’ve made a DVD, been doing some art work, been to a range of museums and visited the Eden Project – and lots more!”
