  • Skills for Support

    Research Summary

Skills for Support was an inclusive research project investigating what people with learning difficulties require from their personal assistants.  The project was funded by the Big Lottery, and conducted in partnership with the Norah Fry Research Centre.  We employed two researchers who have learning difficulties to conduct the research.  Researchers produced an information pack which provides rich material for discussion and debate and will be of interest to:

    • People with learning difficulties who employ personal assistants
    • Direct payment support organisations
    • Agencies that train supporters for people with learning difficulties
    • Colleges and universities providing courses for front-line staff.

The information pack containing a training DVD and photo stories is available to purchase from Pavillion Publishers at: www.pavpub.com/trainingmaterials

The training materials will help people with learning difficulties gain more control over their lives by being in control of good support
