    Our Voice Matters

    We are a group of parents and carers with children and young people with a disability or additional needs, aged 0-19yrs whose aim is to improve services and support available for families living in South Gloucestershire.

     

    Bristol City Council Disability Equality Forum

    The forum was set up in 1995 so that Disabled people in the city could have access to the City Council in order to make their views heard and to help the city Council understand the experience and requirements of Disabled people.

    Bristol Dial-a-Ride

    Bristol Dial-a-Ride provides door-to-door, fully accessible transport services to disabled and older people who are unable to use public transport because of mobility or communication impairments.

    Disability Awareness in Action (DAA)

    An international human rights network, run for and by Disabled people.

    Disability Lib

    We are committed to confronting discrimination and disablism. Disability LIB will provide disabled people's organisations (DPOs) with capacity building information, advice and support that will enable them to be more effective in their activities.

    South West Disability Equality Network (SWDEN)

    The Southwest Disability Equality Network (SWDEN) was launched in 2004.  It is a forum of disabled people in the region.  It represents organisations of and for disabled people.

    United Kingdom’s Disabled Peoples’ Council (UKDPC)

    The United Kingdom's Disabled People's Council is the UK's national organisation of the worldwide Disabled People's Movement. They were set up in 1981 by Disabled people to promote full equality and participation in UK society, and now represent some 70 groups run by Disabled people in the UK at national level. Between them member groups have a total membership of around 350,000 Disabled people.

    Disabled Peoples International

    A grassroots, cross-disability network with member organisations in over 110 countries, over half of which are in the developing world.

    European Network on Independent Living

    ENIL is the umbrella of individuals and organisations dedicated to promoting Independent Living among Disabled people and the general public in Europe. 
    Independent Living is a philosophy and a movement of Disabled people who work for equal opportunities, self-respect and self-determination.

    Independent Living Funds

    The Independent Living Funds (ILF) are a national resource dedicated to providing financial support for Disabled people, enabling them to live independently.

    Independent Living Institute

    A policy development center specializing in consumer-driven policies for disabled peoples' self-determination, self-respect and dignity.

    The National Centre for Independent Living

    NCIL advances the philosophy and advocates for the human rights of, and services for, Disabled people. Includes a directory of local support schemes.  

    World Institute on Disability

    Dedicated to promoting independence and societal inclusion of Disabled people, Includes publications, programmes and events.

    General Disability

    Hop, Skip and Jump South West

    Hop Skip and Jump opened in 2003, and since then it has grown into a vibrant centre and a vital resource for families with disabled children within Bristol and the surrounding areas.

    Ability Net

    Ability Net is a national charity helping Disabled adults and children use computers and the internet by adapting and adjusting their technology.

    Disability Alliance

    Many Disabled and older people, and their carers, are facing hardship as a result of the impact of the Government's fairer charging policy for home care. 
    In its report, "The Costs of Care", the Coalition on Charging says that many Disabled and older people have to pay from their benefits for essential services they are assessed as needing. Many now have no choice but to reduce the level of service they receive.

    Employers Forum on Disability

    Employers' Forum on Disability is the world's leading employers' organisation focused on disability as it affects business. Their mission is to enable companies to become disability confident by making it easier to recruit and retain Disabled employees and to serve Disabled customers.

    University of Leeds Disability Studies Centre

    CDS is an interdisciplinary centre for research and education in the field of disability studies at the University of Leeds.  The Centre incorporates and develops the work of the former Disability Research Unity (DRU) and aims to promote international excellence within the field
