User Led Organisation (ULO)
A user-led organisation (ULO) is one where the people the organisation represents , or provides a service to, have a majority on the management committee or board, and where there is clear accountability to members and/or service users (Morris 2006).
In WECIL's case it means we are run by and for Disabled people.
WECIL has been awarded funding so that we can support the development of ULOs in Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath and North East Somerset.
We now have a database of 70 ULOs in the Bristol area. We are currently working in South Gloucestershire to identify ULOs we may be able to support. If you think you are a ULO and would like to benefit from the project, please do contact us.
Following the completion of an assessment survey in Bristol, we now have a much better idea of what services are currently provided and what organisations would like to provide. This includes a summary of free resources on offer and details of future training opportunities:
