Direct Payments support

If you qualify for help with your care needs from your Local Authority (Council) you can ask to receive Direct Payments.

Many disabled people who opt for this find that it gives them more control and choice over how they live their lives.

Using Direct Payments allows you to buy services or pay someone to help you. If you choose this option, you will need to do certain things; such as keep records and submit accounts to the Local Authority (council). If you decide to employ a Personal Assistant(s) (PAs), you will also take on the legal responsibilities of being an employer.

As part of your Direct Payment budget you will receive a payment for all or some of the costs for a support agency to help you manage your Direct Payment. WECIL is one of these support agencies.

  • Visit you at home or talk via our support line for any queries
  • Support you to recruit and manage a Personal Assistant (PA) or find an agency
  • Help you to budget your DP and keep records
