WECIL has extended to add employment support for individuals, and consultancy and training for employers, alongside our range of services for disabled people.
On the 1 February 2016, national charity Action on Disability and Work UK (ADWUK) transferred its services, staff and assets into WECIL, becoming part of the holistic package of support.
Services include: advice and information for individuals, a regular ‘work club’ for people to improve computer skills, get online and look for work, and a consultancy service for businesses looking to become more inclusive.
All of these services are now delivered by WECIL from our offices at Link House, Kingswood and The Vassall Centre, Fishponds.
Cheri Wilkins, WECIL CEO says:
“We are very excited to be integrating employment services into WECIL; there is a real need for disabled people to have independent, impartial advice to help them access training, volunteering and employment.
“In combination with our existing services, we are able to offer a holistic package of employment support to individuals that includes: one to one advice, training, advocacy, volunteering, guidance on benefit applications and peer-mentoring.
“In addition, we are looking to help increase employment opportunities and sustain employment for disabled people. This will be through our consultancy service, which offers training and bespoke advice packages, supporting employers in: meeting equality legislation, increasing performance and creating a more inclusive environment for their staff and customers.”
