Direct Payments support

If you qualify for help with your care needs from your Local Authority (Council) you can ask to receive Direct Payments, giving you more control and choice over how you live your life.

“A Direct Payment is funding from your local authority that provides choice and control over how disabled people receive support in their own home or in the community. The funding can be used to employ the people you want to support you, to purchase a service from a care provider, equipment or some other way you choose to meet your support needs.”

As part of your Direct Payment budget you will receive a payment for all or some of the costs for a support agency to help you manage your Direct Payment. WECIL is one of these support agencies.

WECIL’s Direct Payments Support Services

Our specialist team can:

  • Explain how DP works and your responsibilities
  • Support you to receive your DP funding
  • Visit you at home or talk via our support line for any queries
  • Support you to recruit and manage a Personal Assistant (PA) or find an agency
  • Help you to budget your DP and keep records
  • Provide training on how to become a better employer / employee

Payroll service

In receiving Direct Payments you may opt to employ a Personal Assistant to support you.

Our Payroll service supports Direct Payment recipients and small businesses to meet their legal obligations relating to paying employees. Anyone in the UK who has one or more employees can use this service.

WECIL’s Payroll service can:

  • Register and liaise with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) on your behalf
  • Calculate monthly payroll, including payments and deductions
  • Process payment to your employee on your behalf (if required)
  • Post monthly employee payslips to you
  • Provide clear and simple reports for your records
  • Deal with all other payroll issues, including: starters, leavers, holiday pay, student loans, sick pay, pension enrolment etc
  • Complete End of Year Returns for HMRC and post P60(s) for your employee (s)
